Corrosion protection for bare block

I have a disassembled engine block that I need to clean & prep. for reassembly What is a good lube that I can use to protect the bores and other machined surfaces from rusting? I also need to clean and treat the crack with something.

I have used Metal Protective Coating by Dow Corning. It's a wax type lubricant coating for bare metal. Works great. You should be able to get at NAPA or any large auto store.
