I have a 1953 Super Jet and I need all 4 wheel brake cylinders and the 2 hoses to the front brakes as well as the hose to the back axle for the rear brakes. Also have a 1954 Jet Liner parts car, but it' s too old and has been sitting too long to salvage the cylinders. I called Dave Kostanek but he does not have any. Does anyone know where I can find the cylinders and hoses?

thanks much:(:(

Brake Cylinders for the '53-'54 Jet are for the most part nonexistant. Your best bet is to have the ones you have cleaned up and sleeved with stainless steel. You should be able to pick up brake cyliinder seal kjits and hoses at any good parts store, just take your old hoses in and ask them to fix you up with correct matching replacements.

Be sure to check out Hagens Auto Parts LH#15427/RH#15428 (your core required, they rebuild with stainless steel sleeve). They're highly recommended here in my hometown. Read through their site and call them if you've got any questions. The direct link for Hudson Jet parts on their website is: http://www.hagensautoparts.com/1953/HUDSON/1C_Jet%2C_2C_Super_Jet_202-6cyl/BRAKE_-_Cylinders%2C_hoses%2C_kits_%26_shoes/All/

YOu can get new cylinders for both front and back wheels (1-1/8" and 15/16") which will fit the Jet, but they have different pistons, with a hollow conical end, so you will have to fit the original pistons if they are serviceable. I did this with my Jet, and it was more economical than sleeving. Problem with the original cylinders is they are alloy, and tend to corrode and oxidise badly. You cannot use the hollow ended pistons, as the ends of the shoes are flat, and are intended to move vertically according to the shoe setting. Unlike other models, these Wagner Lockheed brakes do not have adjustable anchor pins. there is onlyone adjustment for each shoe, the eccentric stud.
