  • What do you s'pose is up with that? 30 HP?

...'course, the reserve might be way over $120,000.

I will say that it's by far the nicest looking Ford I've ever seen, LOL!
  • When you see an ad like this you have to wonder. Is he a comedian or is he so far removed from the reality of classic cars he cannot fathom the correct price of a car.

    I vote comedian.

I sent the guy an email telling him about the car, nicely. I also told him that $120K is not going to work. We will see what he says.
  • Appears to be a 1950 Pacemaker Deluxe(!) with the more ornate steering wheel (could have been added later in the car's history) and the arm rests on the doors. Hope he gets his money and then some as I own the same car, though not in quite the apparent same condition.

Seller has Zero feedback, IMHO this is a total scam.

I doubt the lister even owns the car and is basically phishing for emails and suckers!

"I've got a Hudson located in Nigeria, that was previously owned by the U.S. Consulate then sold to the King of Nigeria..."
  • I just noticed this is located in my city. I do not know this car. I will have to contact him to see why its worth so much money.
  • Almost seems to me that he meant to list it at 12K with a reserve and made a mistake being a first time seller on ebay. Might not have noticed the error.

Like the guy a while back who wanted 500K for the 20's Hudson, maybe having a laugh.

Or maybe the seller doesn't really want to sell, and is putting it up for sale to pacify their spouse?

Stuff like that is a possibility, or even just to see what the bidding will go up to for his appraiser. Basically to set a "value" to it.

There's so many bad signs here, i.e., price, description, "Ford", 1st-time seller. I didn't even bother reading the description except for the beginning. Obviously someone "dressed up" this car with exterior and interior work, but looks as though the mechanicals might be seriously lacking.

I like giving the benefit of the doubt, most of the time, but if there's not a legit reason like the two mentioned above, or something else, it is a SCAM!!

I had a guy ring me recently who had a Ford -Essex engine for sale, I told him it was one or the other, he told me that Essex was a cheaper version vehicle made by Ford.Did not even try to explain.

Oops! I have to correct myself. It's probably NOT a Pacemaker DELUXE! since the Vin number begins with 500* versus 50A*. Well, what do I know about Pacemakers, I only just drive one.
  • Just so ya know, the guys over at the Ford flathead forum are scratching their heads, too. slim
  • This same ad ran about a year ago I think, we all laughed about it then. I think he is just recycling the same ad.

    Are they really? That's funny!:D
  • Lots of $$$ for a damn four-door, a car that has not been detailed for squat, and more $$$ than any ragtop.

I heard there was a serious crack problem in the Edmonton area...

I looked at this car a couple of months ago, basically it is what he says, though no Ford parts that I could see. It was owned by his Uncle and he inherited it a number of years ago. The interior is nice and it had a decent re-paint because of some hood damage, no overdrive. When talking to him it was apparent that he wasn't a car guy. I asked him what he thought it was worth and he said he really had no idea. Was he ever right there!! Bob Callfas (non-crack user).

:confused:I wrote the seller a polite e mail and never recieved a reply, Look at the term he uses for his name, oilerfan, that should be a clue that he is clueless about the cars value. Some people watch Barret-Jackson and think their car must be worth the rediculous prices that you see at the auctions at times, or they pick up a hemmings and and think they have an oil field. It would be a nice car for somebody to take care of and enjoy. But maby the owner wants his price, won't get it, put it back in the garage for another twenty years, the roof falls in and the junk man hauls it away. Maby "nose candy" is getting pricey. LOL! I did not paint the beautiful city of Edmonton with a broad brush, notice! I've been there a couple of times for stuff at Cold Lake! Love that mall!

Not sure of the seller's purpose for posting the auction at the price indicated.

If they were looking for a 'ballpark' of value, they should have started reasonable ($1.00), with a high reserve... Posting in the manner that they have accomplishes nothing, except the generation of a few emails telling them that they're WAY off base...

My vote is that they have mixed-up their medications, or have been standing too close to the exhaust with the engine running for extended periods of time...

Maybe so! Reminds me of a Tucker convertible that was listed not long ago . . .

I would want to know how hard it is to get the car across the border if I lived in the USA, and how it was titled?. It says it's clear?. After his original add , it brings up question. JMO
  • Its a Canadian built Pacemaker we do not have title's on cars up here like you guys do. Clear here means seller owns car and no liens on it.

I can look at this car if anyone is interested plus ask the questions to see if its legit. Jim Guinn might be coming up to bring me some parts so he could bring it down to US for anyone.

And no its not hard to get across border.
  • For importing cars this link should answer most of your questions:

    http://204.68.195.250/cars/rules/import/

You should have no problems. Here is the section:

    8. Importing a vehicle that is at least 25 years old.

A motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old can be lawfully imported into the U.S. without regard to whether it complies with all applicable FMVSS. Such a vehicle would be entered under Box 1 on the HS-7 Declaration form to be given to Customs at the time of importation. If you wish to see that form, you may download a copy from our website at www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import. You should note that the 25 year period runs from the date of the vehicle's manufacture. If the date of manufacture is not identified on a label permanently affixed to the vehicle by its original manufacturer, to establish the age of the vehicle, you should have documentation available such as an invoice showing the date the vehicle was first sold or a registration document showing that the vehicle was registered at least 25 years ago. Absent such information, a statement from a recognized vehicle historical society identifying the age of the vehicle could be used.

I often deal with US government agencies. Contact your local NHTSA office and they should be able to walk you through the process. It takes a little while to do this but I have found it to be much less stressfull.
