Terraplane with an Aeroplane Ad 1932
I had not seen this until today and just got a kick out of it. What a great way to promote a car, unless it ends badly and it could really end badly.

Great footage. I added the link to my blog.
Crazy people back then . . . better than standing in a bread line, though!0 -
That's why they called it the "Roaring 20's" - ok,ok, this is 1933. That's still close enough.
There was a lot of that stuff going on thru the 1920's and 1930's. Ex-WW1 pilots out of a job, but had the bug to fly. JN-4 Jennie's, DeHavilland bi-planes, you name it. If it had wings and an engine, somebody would fly it. They were gypsy's with an aircraft going from town to town promoting aviation thru thrill shows complete with wing walkers, parachute jumpers and everything in between.
It was the era of Jimmy Doolittle and the GB's - an engine with wings; Roscoe Turner with his pet lion flying with him; Pancho Barnes and her Happy Bottom Riding Club out at March Air Force Base (tho this was much later).
It was a wild and crazy time. I wish I'd been there to see it.

Met an 80 year old lady a number of years back down in Texas. She spent her teen's and early 20's as a wing walker in a carney side show. She had some fantastic photo's from the day. One where she was doing a hand stand on a bi-plane. Got to remind one of surfing on the hood of the old Hudson back on the farm.....
