1947 paint mix codes

I'm getting ready to paint my 47 Commodore 6. I want to paint it that 2 tone sort of charcoal gunmetal gray with a lighter silver color. Not sure what it is called exactly. Does anyone have the paint mix codes for that?

I think what you are looking for is Option OG - Gunmetal Gray (Upper)/Quaker Gray (Lower). The Ditzler code for that one is 30249/30248. The Autocolor Library @ www.autocolorlibrary.com/ www.autocolorlibrary.com/ doesn't even have those numbers for 1947.

Sorry, I don't have paint chips or mix numbers.

If you wish I can send you a copy of what I have from my General Information Handbook. Drop me an email @ NEChudsontech@hetclub.org (drop the NEC).

Rick is right on my web site - problem is I haven't updated the 1947 numbers. What I posted on the site was what I had at the time. Later searching produced two-tone numbers, like the ones above.

Thank you Rick - now that you mention it I remember that being the case. And that chart is what I need to update the 1946-1947 paint specs.

There were some changes in paint colors between 1946 and 1947 (I just found the 1941-1954 Ditzler Car Color List I have:

    1947 colors listed as follows:

Hudson code P - Palace Green (replaced Peasant Green)

Hudson code S - Sherwood Green (replaced Saxon Green)

Hudson code CC - Royal Red

Hudson code B - Belvidere Blue (replacd Bar Harbor Blue)

Hudson code J - Jefferson Blue (replaced Jamestown Blue)

also listed under 1947, but without Hudson codes are the following from 1946:

Peasant Green, Black, Saxon Green, Copper Red, Bar Harbor Blue and Jameston Blue.

The only two-tone was Jefferson Blue (upper)/Belvedere Blue (lower).

However, as you point out, all other 1946 colors were carried over.

    Confusing, isn't it!!!!

Corey, here's a shot of our Commodore. The fellow who painted it 20 years ago said the colors were both '71 Mercedes. The lower grey shows just a hint of green in certain light, but everyone says the color combo looks terrific. You might see if your auto paint supplier can find these colors on a Mercedes chart. I have some of both colors; unfortunately the markings on the cans have deteriorated and I can't read them.
