Bumper Guards ID

I was looking at the Ol Skool rodz thread with the nationals pics and there is a Red Vert in 2 of the pictures. I see it has a Bumper Guard on the front and Back that are chrome, like 18" tall with a round pool ball size knob at the top and placed about 18" apart in the midle of the front and rear bumper.
Is this a stock guard, factory accessory, vintage aftermarket or a custom job? They look really sweet I think - but I have only seen these on this car thus far.
can someone shed some light as to the proper name for them, origin, are they still available (rarity?) and if so what they go for if i wanted a set?
thanks!
Brad

The fronts are fairly common as Hudson factory accessories go and NOS sets do still pop up quite a bit. They clamp over the 48-50 front inner guards. the rears aren't seen as often. If i remember right, they clamp to the bumper as 48-49 and 50 Pacemaker did not have rear inner guards. there are many varrients of accessory guards but this style is most common.0

Brad, Those bumper over riders were supplied by Hudson dealers as accessories on the 48-9 Hudsons. Some 1950 Hudsons used them but it was an accessory that was obsolete by the time the 1951 Hudsons came out as the bumperettes had changed and you could no longer use them. Good sets today are available but a still rare. These were made for front as well as the rear of the car. Condition and availability are the main concerns when trying to obtain these items. For a good set you may have to part with a few bucks to get what you want. Its all up to buyer and seller.0

thanks for the info.
ballpark - what would a set run that would be in decent to good condition that would needa little work and replating (front and rear) vs what do a NOS set run. a general idea is good enough $50, 100, 500?
Also, is there a similair style guard for the 51-53 bumpers, how hard would it be to retrofit the 48/49 to the later bumper style?
thanks for the help
