Pic's Of my 52 Hornet Dash
Just got my interior pieces and dash back from the painter. I had the leather grain redone as original. I couldn't be happier with the result. Cost almost 2K but he said he had much more time in it as this was his first Hudson. Alexander Restorations in So Cal has won two Pebble Beach Concourse...

Pretty costly, but looks really, really good.0

Thanks Russ,
Maybe a few hundred on the high side but twice the quality. I didn't want to scrimp on a high profile area like this. There are plenty of amateur "sponge" jobs out there but they look like sponge jobs and typically, you get what you pay for.0 -
I have been doing woodgraining for some time now and let me chime in and say that this is most likely the best reporduction of a 52 dash that I have seen. I thought I was pretty good but I had night mares trying to redo my 52 woodgraining. The quality is really good. What is price anyway when you are working on one of these special cars. There is just simply no replacement for a good quality job. KUDOS to the folks who did this for you...0

Looks great!
You might want to get some low-tack film or vinyl to put on there while you do the installation, I'd hate to be the one to put a scratch in there while installing the radio!
I'd bet the vendor who did the work could recommend something to use.0 -
Hope you're keeping track of all the costs associate with the build Neils - Sounds like you've got your own little mobile 'money pit' currently growing in your workshop!
Niels is not alone in this aspect, I assure you.0 -

You got that right....still got to have paint , interior and chrome done, ouch. A 52 factory engined 7X Hornet Coupe should be worth the coin. But really, isn't every Hudson worth it's weight in gold (atleast in it's owners eyes!)0 -

Yep!! If you're restoring it to sell it, you'll never see the return, but if you're building it for yourself, does it really matter how much is spent? Not to me, it doesn't.0 -
I also have a good idea of what I have put into my Hudsons, but have nothing in writing! Don't want my wife to get ahold of it...
That logic sounds real familiar !!0 -
I realize this thread is a bit old now, but we are struggling to find a shop who can to a top notch job on the leather grain for a step down. Is the Alexander Restorations you refer to Nick Alexander Restoration in Huntington Beach?
The hydro-dip place in Idaho has a neat system but no grains match for the step downs.
Thanks!0 -

These guys are in Winter Haven,FL. Usually see them out at the shows and swaps. They do some great work but no idea if they do a leather pattern.
