1930-1933 Hudson Service Manual

I mentioned this item when I posted about new manuals being posted to the on-line Hudson library.

I am in the process of scanning a 1930-1933 Hudson 8 Service Operations Manual that I got a copy from Dave Young in New Zealand on CD from.

In the 40 years I've been in the club I've never seen one of these - and the club library doesn't have one. So I'm curious to know if there's anybody out there in the wilderness who has one, or has seen one. This will be on the On-Line library - all 290 odd pages of it - as soon as I get done scanning it.

It is a fantastic piece - should be on the shelf for any 1930-1933 Hudson owner. I'll be sending John O'h a copy for the "paper" library, along with a CD.

    Alex - geez, whatta "find"!

How can one get a "paper copy"????????

One of two ways to get a copy - wait until I finish scanning and I'll print a copy out for, oh, $10.

Or down-load it from the Hudson On-Line Library for nuttin'. (Most popular option!!) :D

Been looking for one of these for say 40 years!

Alex - I've posted notice of this "find" & your working on it at the Hudson 8 website, trust that is OK.

That's ok on the posting. Let you know when I get it done. I'm up to page 137 - leaving around 160 pages to go - at about 10 to 15 pp a day.

  • oldhudsons,

I am not familer with the Hudson 8 website, could you give me the address or how to get to it? It seems like there are all kinds of Hudson sites that keep poping up. I would like to see it.

    Thanks,

    Scott

The Hudson Eight e-group is here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Hudson8/

You'll find it, and a number of other Hudson-related websites, on the "Links" section of the new H-E-T Club website: http://www.hetclub.org/
  • Faxon Auto Literature in Riverside, CA has been selling copies of this manual for over a year now at $49.00 a pop plus postage. Two copies on eBay right now. Really class copy with nice binding and cover that looks factory.

Ain't that always the way of it with Hudson stuff. Don't see something for years and all of a sudden it jumps out of it's hidey hole.

Oh, well, I'll still finish scanning and put it in the on-line library. I really have to get together with Johnny O' - I'm not sure he's fully aware of just what is on-line. And then there are the WTN tech bulletins that Art Adams put out in the WTN back in the 70's. Most of those are on my web site.

I'm scanning the stuff and Gregg Maroney's giving me the space on his web site, and putting it into the site for me.

Just looked over what Faxon is offering & it says "was written for all the '30 models" and "should work for the '31-32 cars as well as the '33" etc., etc.

That means it WOULD NOT cover the '31-2 freewheeling trans. nor the '33 T8 - Alex, does the manual you have in hand cover those later items?

This manual covers ONLY Hudson and Essex mechanical procedures, not Terraplane. It is primarily for the 1930 models, but 1931 are pretty well the same construction, so can beused for most of those. I'm unsure of the 1932 models, as we don't have any of those here, but my understanding is that such things as brakes were quite different.

It does state, on the front cover, that it is for 1930 Hudson 8 models; Also recommended for 1931& 1932 Greater Eight, 1933 Major Eight.
