rewiring project
I'd like to rewire my 41 super six sedan. I see I could cover the whole car for $600-$1000 from the places that sell harnesses. Did anyone rewire something similar to my sedan? If so what would be the length and gauge, and color[if possible] needed for a complete job. I'm going to hershey next week and I could pick up the wiring if I had some idea what I needed. Last year they had the modern wire with the cloth covering, which is what I would go with. Any help is appreciated. Jim

Try Rebel Wire in Tennessee. Straight-up guys to deal with. I'm doing the '37 Terraplane with their harness. Plus, they are US-made, too!

The gauge and color can be found in the shop manual. As far length goes, figure you are going to run a wire from one end of the car to the other. It is better to have too much wire then too little.0

Just finished rewiring my 36 coach. There was not a harness available for my car because it was a one-off custom car. The folks at Coachcraft did not follow the wiring diagram that is used on the 36-8 cars. There are several sizes of wire that is called out on the diagram and it took me three weeks and about 150 hours to figure it out. This is not the first car that I have "free wired" but I will say this. If there is a harness available do not waste your time trying to reproduce what they have already made. I have never saved money doing a harness and there is a lot of testing and checking that goes into doing a complete car. I think I wired my Chevy Woody Wagon using a harness in about 8 hours.0

I would rewire it yourself. not many wires on a 1941 hudson, look at 41 wiring diagram for wire size and location, run all your wires from start to finish without connecting, put in looms where needed, then install your terminal ends and connect. done quite a few myself, would not spend all that money for a pre-made one!0

Thanks for mentioning our harnesses. We've helped a lot of Hudson guys with their projects. We don't build Hudson specific kits, but our universal harnesses work great. We've even developed a 6 volt, 8 circuit harness if you want to keep the car more original.

No sweat. If I find a product I like, I'll tell everyone about it, and that's far too seldom these days, it seems. I had heard about your harnesses on the HAMB forum, priced yours against the competition, and decided to give yours a try. I'm going to order another harness from you, when I get to that point on my '56 Plymouth wagon hot rod!0
