Hudson nut survives Rita

Been worried about a fellow Hudson-nut and friend of mine, Dave "DJ" Kava. DJ, who is the HET club historian and author of the WTN column, "90 Years Ago", lives in Beaumont and as we all know, that area caught Hurricane Rita dead center. I got the following email from DJ today:
"Just a note. Been a refugee since the 21st. Spent a couple of nights
with Lew and Vickie Bird near Ft Worth. Staying in Houston last few
days.
> Saw the house on Thursday and other than a ton of tree branches and a
crushed greenhouse, absolutely nothing wrong. Lucky, lucky as a third of
the neighbors have damage from fallen trees.
> Anyway I'm still kicking and fewer problems than most. You can pass
the info to the rest of the club. Will be here until Monday AM.
