Motor in 54 Wasp

The standard engine for the 1954 Wasp was the 232, however, the 262 was an option. The 232 has a single barrel carb, and the 262 will have the 2 bbl carb - thats the quickest way I can think of to determine which engine you would have. The option was "C" , 262 engine for the model 4D Wasp Series.

I always thought the '54 Wasp had a 232 and the Super Wasp had the 2620
-
Aaron - Read my previous post. The Wasp was available with an optional engine, the 262

Mine is a Super Wasp and it has the 262 with over drive.
I don't know if the 232 was an option or not???

The Super Wasp came standard with the 262 - the only option on that model was Twin-H Power

I have a 54 WASP (Not Super Wasp) with a factory installed 2620 -

Walt - I have a Price, Equipment and Option Folder published by Hudson that lists under "Individual Options", the seventh item "C" Engine, 262 Cubic Inch available on "4D" at $ 48.38 (std. on "5D") This is what I am basing my previous posts on.
I know my father sold several Wasp "4D" club sedans with the 262 engine option and the Borg Warner Automatic Trans.

I have never claimed to be an expert Hudson mechanic. I have though, through the forums and the many books I have had the chance to read, formed the theory that if Hudson made it, you could order it on any car they put together. Too many people have said positively that something was not available on a certain model, then some one else shows up with just the combination that was claimed to have never been made.
Hudson made what ever would make them a buck!

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the kind thoughts, and especially the many prayers. I still have a long way to go but at least I can get out of bed and walk around in the house. I have too many problems with my balance to try going outside on my own yet.
I'll post more on the discussions forum later.
Thanks

Wow 1954 was kind of a weird year for Hudson. I imagine in my mind the Hudson workers clearing out inventory and putting cars together with all sorts of combinations of step-down parts.0

Aaron: Your observations along with Bob H are spot on for Hudson and most car manufactures who want to sell cars. Bob's point is quite true for several new cars I have ordered. One in particular sticks in my memory, a 1970 Formula 400 Pontiac Firebird I ordered from Manley Pontiac in Abilene Texas. My goal was to obtain a car with go fast and creature comfort. The build included Positrack rear, close ratio M22 and the top HP 400cu in engine. I added AC to that package... Dealer said Pontiac did not allow that combination of options. I offered dealer the following options... order what I asked for or I was headed for the Cheby dealer to purchase a similar equipped Camaro. My Pontiac was ordered... several days later I received a telegram... before the days of Faxes and INTERNET... basically said ... no dice car build stopped due to AC install with performance package. After several days of arguing and a renewed threat of canx order my car was built to my order specs and shipped to TEXAS. Point: If you look at the Pontiac literature ... a 1970 Firebird could not be ordered with those options... I had one. Smart car dealers who sell what the customers want... assures dealership sales success.
BTW ... one of the 1954 Hudson Merchandisers Alex posted features ROSEN NOVAK Hudson, Omaha Ne... I have the fortunate experience of talking with Mr. Rosen. His favorite expression was; Paint it PINK if that is what is needed to sell a car... His attention to customer’s desires made his dealership a flag ship among Hudson dealers.0
