Hudsons in the Carrera Panamerica

Don't know but I had did help build a 52 for a PanAm race about ten or twelve years back with Jim Harmon.
Seems to me he placed second or third in his class and it was the owner's first race.
Fred Conners was the most responsible for the engineering involved.
I don't know how many times after that the car saw any more racing.0 -

Here's a great article that includes Smokey Yunich's take on his trip there with Marshall Teague.

Fascinating & "realistic" discourse by Smokey, LOL!
Met him at a SEMA show in Vegas a few years back when Press had his '34 T PU on display inside & Ivan's '51 H cp. displayed outside.
He conducted a sort of rambling talk, in his customary outfit, and had a cute "little old lady" wife walking around handing out pamphlets. There were several of us HETers there & when he had a "question & answer" period we peppered him with questions about his Hudsons experiences. I no longer remember the questions or answers but it was fun & he was a sharp & irreverent speaker, lacing his talk with "spicey" remarks!0 -
I consider it an honor having met Smoky at the Nashville National. He was in the lobby, and there was quite a bit of noise with all the people chattering away so our conversation was a bit stilted given the fact his hearing was about gone and I'm half deaf myself - for much the same reasons; working around noisy engines without hearing protection. Still, got to meet him and that's one of the high points of my years in the HET club.

Found these two Hudsons on the 2009 Carrera Panamericana site. More like a rally now, but would be great fun. Notice the blood type of the two drivers painted on the side of the top car.0
