Diagnosing an oil leak on a 308, and a couple of other things
I have an oil leak on my 308. It looks like it is coming from behind the distributor. At first I thought it was a spill from filling but after cleaning it off it was wet again after a drive. What is behind the distributor that could be leaking? Any suggestions on a fix?
I am also noticing a few red drops on the garage floor. Where is my transmission fluid stick hiding? I would like to check the level now and when I get it up looking for the leak.
I plan on replacing the radiator hoses. Can anyone take a look and tell me if I have the original radiator and if the standard hoses sold by Dave Kostankek will fit?
Thank you all.

FYI
I think the small seal located underneath the base of the distributor is leaking oil...
The transmission Fill Cap is under the drivers floor mat beneath a circular cover.
Replacement hoses should fit that radiator0 -

I am embarrassed to admit it, but I must be blind as a bat. I lifted the plate in the drivers foot-well and looked around. I saw the master cylinder with the brake linkage, I saw the parking brake cabling, and I saw what I think is the linkage into the transmission from the carburetors, but I did not see what I could identify as a fill cap for the transmission. What am I missing

There are TWO plates... one you found the other covers the area where you access the transmission dipstick and filler tube.

Transmission filler and dipstick cover plate on a hydramatic is on the passenger side of the vehicle not the drivers side. The plate on the drivers side covers the band adjustment. Lift the carpet over so you can see the passenger side of the tranny hump you will see a cover on that side.
When you check the fluid level make sure the car is running and warmed up to get an accurate reading. Before you pull the dipstick give it a good clean around with a rag so no junk falls in while you are checking the level.0
