Oil Pump Gear

I am replacing the oil pump gear on my oil pump. Its the original pump so the stock gear is pretty worn. The gear is held on with a steel pin. I removed this pin and can't find anyone that sells these pins. Guess I will have to hit a machine shop and get some made. Anyone I showed the pin to offered me the spring pin as a replacement. Kind of like to have a solid pin in there. Anyone else replace this pin and what did you use?
