55/56 Hydramatic to stepdown
I need to replace or overhaul the Hydramatic in my 53 Hornet. My preferred option is to have another Hydramatic rebuilt and swap it over, and I do have access to a low mileage Hydramatic from a rusted 55/56 that should be a good candidate for rebuilding.
The question is:- If I have the 55/56 box rebuilt, is it then just a matter of attatching the stepdown specific parts, ie bellhousing and tail piece, to the rebuilt transmission before installing it in the Hornet, or is it not quite that simple?
