Tie rod rubber bushings/dust covers

My tie rods are missing the rubber bushings that help hold the metal dust covers down...

Before I go looking for something that will work (or fabricate from hose or something) does anyone know of a source or could recommend something else?

I hate to disassemble them and fool around trying to make or find some if someone else has already been there...

Thanks,

Craig

Try NAPA, take an old one with you. Walt.
  • I ordered the correct size modern type boots from progressive suspension. they are black urethane, fit real well compaired to stock setup. replaces steel washers and rubber seal. worked for me!

    Thanks for the info...

I had looked at some replacement dust covers online and now that I know someone has used them I believe that's the way I'll go...

  • The modern boots do a better job keeping water and dirt out of the tie rods. Therefore, the tie rods will last alot longer. Don't forget to lub them regularly.

  • Mars55 Thanks so much for the info on the Boots. Rudy
  • I used Energy Suspension sway bar bushings-lub type-links and lower CA bumpers just today ! worked great-poly vs rubber and at a good price. The local parts house is much higher than the on line store
  • Another thought is that replacement tie rod ends are readily available at $20 or so per end and come with rubber boots.
