Power steering conversion
Hi, what would be involved in converting my standard steering 1956 Hudson Hornet Custom w/ 308 6cyl twin H engine, to power steering. Also what would the estimated labor and parts be. Thanks everyone.

Are you doing it yourself or farming it out? I've seen complete systems lately go for around $1500 for the parts (if and when you can find them). This is assuming you want all original equipment, of course. Probably cheaper to retro-fit, especially if you do the work yourself. Also, if memory serves from other's posts, with the Twin-H, the air cleaner has to be modified or replaced with the proper length unit. Also, there is also the addition of the dual-pulley harmonic balancer and the dual water pump pulley that will need to be added. Dual HB's typically cost around $200 and dual WP pulley's anywhere from $50-$100. Figure in cost for belts, fasteners and fluid as part of your miscellaneous figures. The job could probably be done yourself for 2K. Farm it out, and expect twice that.0
