Old Seals on Ebay

I often see NOS seals listed on Ebay. I'm wondering if these old seals are any good or if the rubber or leather in some cases are dried up. Has anyone had experience with NOS seals or is a crap shot?

i would not trust an old rubber seal. i believe the rubber would be hard as a rock, cracked, etc...most cases you can find a modern equivalent. if leather is not cracked..a long shot..but if it is not cracked it can be softened. i would rather source a modern seal. regards, tom
