carb treatment

My two WA-1s' are cleaned up and ready for rebuilding. The bases were sandblasted and the upper sections dipped, brushed, and rubbed down to remove all the oxidation. What do folks do to protect their old Carters', paint them, some special coating applied, or leave bare?

The place that rebuilt mine (it's in Daytona, Fla.) actually re-plates the various zinc, aluminum and steel parts (zinc dichromate or black oxide, depending upon which it is) I believe. I'm not sure how practical that would be for you, though.
