Looks like you have a good plan!
I feel your pain after being on the sidelines for 10 months I'm in some hurtin financial straights but at least the bleeding has stopped.
I started on my 49 - 5 years ago..thinking I'd have it on the road in 12-18 months...and it's been nothing but a constant battle between having money and no time to work on it - to having no money and plenty of time to work on it!
Keep your head up, we'll be here to cheer you on!0 -
thank you ,, things are tough all over .... i picked mine up around 3 years ago ... and thought that it won't take too much time to finish...started gathering parts ,, then things went sour with economy .. being a tractor mechanic ,, and everyone knew that i was hurting from age ,, first to go .. after seeing doctor and finding out how bad of shape i'm in ,, thanks welfare ,, or i'd be dead now ... got REALLY depressed.... finally wife suggested that i get on computer and look at some sites ... turns out that it was great therapy .. and i'm having a ball ... i am still a computer newbe ,, and type with 1 finger... never had a use for typing and such ... all finished pictures that you see are photoshop from another site ,, and was just done to get me motivated again ..started trading parts for my dash on another site.. THINGS ARE LOOKING UP .... hopefully i can be actually start working on it in less than a year.... at least doing things that don't require any cash...
good luck with this site ,, and i',m glad to see it's not a soft porn one like i've seen on some .. well planed out ....0 -
Bobjob,
Good to have you with us. Love the look of the photoshop Dodge. Will be great to see your car at that stage. By the way, I was let go in October last year after 44 years with the company. I picked up my Hudson (you can see photos on "Rarest Hudson's that was built for Production" thread on the main screen. It is the 36 English Hudson that I posted photo's of yesterday) in boxes last spring. I have had a lot of time and by doing everything myself costs are reasonable. I was able to get the chrome, tires and big stuff while I was still working. Ends up that this will be the fastest restoration I have ever done. Keep plugging (I doubt that I will find work because of my age) life is great after work......0 -

Bob - just a bit of encouragement. You obviously have talents that others do not ... tractor mechanic. That means you are a handy fellow with mechanical stuff. So you are probably able to do the kinda work most of the folks can not.. engine overhauls, tune ups, transmission overhaul so on and so on. I know batering your labor for things you need done can be a means to the end your seek. My children learned at a early age that they could pool thier talents and do lawn care for the neighbors. They actually had a licensed business in highschool. Today they use barter to assist when they do not have the funds to get something done. BTW... I grew up as a third generation farmers son. My Dad and Granddad taught me to use a forge and do blacksmithing as well as basic wrenching. Invaluable talents to me. Good Luck and keep pluggin.
Cheers from the HOT.:)0
