My first Hudson project- kind of long
I was playing with the scanner and scanned a few old photos. This 46 C8 has been my favorite car since I knew what a car was. My dad saved it from the crusher in 61 for the hefty sum of $50. He drove it on and off for some years, then put in in storage the year I was born (76). Fast forward to 1996, when I finally talked him into bringing it home to work on. We pulled the head, critters had packed the exhaust manifold with nuts, and most of the valves were stuck. We did a valve job and the thing ran like a top. 47K original miles, most of which were put on before 1961. After that I re-did the brakes, repainted the wheels, and put new tires on it. I pulled the hood before starting the valve job, and pulled the rear fenders while it was in the shop. These pictures are from the first time it moved under it's own power in 20 years. I took pics before I washed it. After this photoshoot, I took it out back and hosed 20 years of crud off of it.
I primered it grey and drove it around all summer like this.

Unfortunately, in Spring of 97 it went back into storage as I finished school and took a job 700 miles away. Of course I got married and had 4 kids since then, so this car has been sitting almost 13 years since.
I hope to get back to it this year, but thats a pretty aggresive goal at this point.
Thanks for letting me share,

Not just a piece of history, but a piece of your family's history! What a great thing, to keep the Faust tradition rolling along! I hope you can get at least one of those four kids to help you with your project, so that together you can get this family heirloom back on the road and enjoy it!0

Great story Matt, family history like that is important. I wish you good luck in finishing it. Richie.0

Matt... the 46 was in the carriage house when I first visited with your Dad in Bolivar. During that trip I also got to see the Pmaker convertible that was later to appear in Two Jakes as the backup car. Your Dad was driving the blue 50 C sedan then.
Years later after you had moved away to attend school I stopped by to see your Dad. That is when your Dad gave me a ride in the 50 Pmaker sedan you now have in Tenn.
My best to you and your family.0
