I just discovered the Hudson Triangle on-line in Google books.

Page after page about then-current Hudson design, innovation, advertising, merchandising, sales and many other forgotten aspects of the company during the 'teens and 'twenties.

Each issue is like a time machine, providing a fascinating weekly snapshot of a vibrant company whose best years were still ahead of it. Page after page about then-current Hudson design, innovation, advertising, merchandising, sales and many other forgotten aspects of the company during the 'teens and 'twenties.

Volumes 3-4 (1913 - 15)

  • Hi Jon,

Sheldon posted the first link to these here back on October 28, of last year. It was a mystery to me at the time why he never got many replies to his post on it as it is a fantastic window back into the early years of the company. It dropped down in the posts rather quickly at the time, so many may not have seen it.

I checked it out then, and after some clicking, and bumbling around, discovered that they not only have the years that you found, but have almost every issue from Vol.I #1 in 1911 up through 1925!! A true treasure trove of original pictures, race & record setting results, technical info, and sales promotions from a time that precious little documentation from the factory has survived.

Here is the link to the index page for all 5 albums of Hudson Triangles.

Click on each album cover to open them. When it opens, start scrolling down, as the first page on most of these is the black cover of the folder that they scanned from, so don't think there is nothing there. Also depending on your internet connection speed, they may take a little while to load all the text, and pictures for each page.

I am very sorry to say that these links will not work for our members overseas due to international copyright issues. I discovered this when I tried to send these links to some friends in Australia, and they informed me that the links are blocked.

These are part of the Google Book program. They were scanned from the University of Michigan's Bentley Historical Library, and part of the collection of papers they have from Roy D. Chapin.

Of all the books on the planet that they could have chosen to scan, and include in this project, we are indeed very lucky that they included these, so that we can enjoy seeing them!

If anyone has one of these early cars, or an interest in this era, you owe it to yourself to check these out!!;)
  • Now that you have access to these great early Hudson Triangles, here is a link to help get you into the Teens, and Twenties frame of mind. Nothing like some good background music to go with this window on the past!!

In addition, I have several 1923, 1928, 1929 and 1931 issues, along with many 1934-1944 Service magazines and a complete set of Service Merchandisers on my web site. You can access the index at:
