Well I went to Harris race cars today( they make speedway cars and run a couple of there own) to get the old girl weight in, I had heart failure, I couldnt believe what the scales was saying, here I was thinking that

she was going to weight 2000-2200 lbs with all the original gear gone and she came in at 3174 lbs with a full tank of gas that's 300lbs heavier than they where built, I thought factory they weight 2850lbs



the 1 good thing that came out of it was the it weight in the 4 corners reasonably even all within 6 lbs all round and that the weight is greater in the rear than in the front! 51% in the rear and 49% in the front



Shes been a bit bouncy in the rear at speed and over bumps so worked out the wheel rates and weights and dropped the rear springs by 100lbs (to 250lbs) on each of the rear corners and set the shocks on 1(Carreas) to give a softer ride

man what a difference, she is a real pleasure to ride in ,such a difference I am considering altering the settings on the front from 50/50 (no2) on the shocks to 1 for a softer and to see what that does



It cost me $100-00 to do all the tests and calculations and 2 new springs but I have to say it was worth every penny and would suggest that it should be done on any new build

I tried to find an older post that explained your build, drivetrain, etc...couldnt find one...

I can't recall if you went with a modern drivetrain, wiring, sound deadening etc...you'd be surprised how much extra weight that can add!

Getting the weight profiled is an excellent thing to do with any older car - the modern equipment can really tell you what to do to get the car dialed in and handling optimally. Thanks for the reminder!

You know - in a lot of forums I'm on people edit their signature and include some of the pertinent details about their cars. It really helps other know where you're coming from and I find the details interesting!

It's easy to do if you're logged-in goto User CP -> Look under "Your Control Panel: Settings and Options" -> Edit Signature.

There you can add a small picture and some text. Check mine out for an example!

Yes all modern drive train its only 300-400 lbs less than a 67 chevy OMG:eek:

there is some dyna matting etc there, but when you think of a coupe you think light
