There have been a few threads addressing the adaption of GM transmissions to a Hudson.. I can't help but ask.. Why not a Ford or Mopar? I understand the availability issue and the adaptors that are available.. But has anyone given any thought or action to adapting something else? I can't help but wonder if there isn't some alternative that could be adapted..maybe cheaper? Just wondering....

Torqueflites have been adapted in a couple of instances--The Ford transmissions create a different problem---I believe the starter is on the right-side of the engine, taking up room for the exhaust system, etc.

GM transmissions are a "dime a dozen", found everywhere, and offer many different ratios. The earlier 200 4R, 700R4are simple to control, using just throttle pressure, via a cable. Overdrive final gear makes for excellent mileage cruising on the freeways.

Check out: http://www.wilcap.com/webdoc8.html for information, check with K-GAP for the best in information, kit, setup. Dany has done this probably more than anyone.
