LED bulbs
Has anyone used the 6 volt LED bulbs. I have heard they are much brighter than the standard OEM. It is hard to see the brake lights in the day light if the sun is behind the car. I have followed several cars with the standard bulbs going to car shows and it is hard to see when the brake lights come on.

i got mine from www.highspeedmotors.com george is a good guy. they are pretty bright. they are over voltage sensitive...don't ask me how i know.... bright with correct voltage too. regards, tom0

Thanks Tom, they are a little more expensive from what I've seen on the internet. About $9.00 to $20.00, but supposed to last a very long time. Richie.0 -
I've heard that LED's are more directional -that is the light they emit is more like a flashlight beam. Has anyone noticed that effect?

I use the 12 volt LED versions on my 49 commodore tail lights.One 1157 bulb for the standard tail and brake/turn signals and one LED just for the turn and brake. So when my brake lights are on or my turn signals I have two lights back there.THEY ARE BRIGHT. the standard filament and a LED. Thats why I switched from the Super tail lights that didn't have enough room for two bulbs. The standard turn signal flasher will not work with an LED bulb because it doesn't draw enough current. The 1157 bulb takes care of that problem.0

Slightly off-topic, but I use these super-bright LED's in my Camper trailer, which I tow with either my modern 12v negative ground car, or my 6 volt positive ground Jet. I simply solder the LED's across the 12v bulbs, with the anode to ground. When the Jet is used, the 12 volt bulbs only glow very dimly, but the LED'S light up real good, and of course they don't come on when the negatvie ground 12 volt is hooked up, and the normal 12 volts bulbs do their job.
