Color of transmission in 51 Hornet ???

Does anyone know color of tranny that came from factory for 51 Hornet. I know motor was gold.

From my observation, the engine and transmission was painted gold and a very poor job at that.. Tranny was not done like we would have done just a "lick and a promise".0

Thanks Dave I was told it was Red in 51 and engine was gold. That did not sound right.

My 51 its gold and Dave is right. Its gold here and there with parts missing paint. Just a blast of spray as it went by on the conveyor I think.0

Yes as it left the factory it was gold. The only time the tranny was red was for the 54 model year. I have one of those as well. It still had good paint on it and thats how I matched the paint for the engine. I have also seen 52-53 Hornets with gold tranny and with blue. The blue one's are rebuilds put in by the dealer that had not been painted factory colour.0
