VS-57 Supercharger on a Hudson update
Guys,
many of you know I have been running a VS-57 McCulloch supercharger on the 308 Hornet engine in my 1950 PaceMaker.
Today I took about 15 minutes and installed one of the new CNC machined Magnesium impellers on it. This came from Paradise Wheels ebay shop and was a good deal compared to upgrading to a newer model Paxton SN supercharger.
The first picture should be showing the CNC impeller on the left and the stock impeller on the right.
The second picture should be the stock impeller with the thick, small radius blades.
The third picture should be the CNC machined impeller with the more agressive radius, thinner blades for better bite into the air.
Stock the most boost I was seeing was 5.5lbs at 4500-4800RPM.
with the CNC impeller I was seeing that 5.5lbs of boost at 2800-3000RPM and a max boost of 7.5lbs at 45-4800RPM.
Definate seat of the pants difference! the response to get into the boost range was faster by several hundred RPM and in some cases 1000 RPM sooner depending on which gear I was in.
Now with the cold air induction box sealing the K&N air cleaner to the hood scoop, water/alcohol injection and the CNC impeller I am looking to hit the Studebaker guys a lot harder this year, even though I have had great success in the past two years holding my own and then some against their rides.
Judging by seat of the pants feel I believe a .375-.500 second improvement in the 1/8 mile may be what I am seeing.
May 29th will be the day to see if they can hold me off or not!

1. See the Specs on the VS-57 Supercharger at the posted link
2. Look on the Home page under Fuel and Carburation for the info.

Yes I have seen the gear drive modified SN93 Sloan does. I have seen one of these run a while back at a studebaker car show. impressive to say the least!
I have one on the list but its going to have to wait for a stronger long block to go under it, by that I mean aftermarket rods, fully prepped crankshaft, forged pistons and some other modifications I am planning.
thanks guys for all the input.
