Hornet brake shoes

I stopped in at a local independent parts shop that carries stuff for old cars to see if they had any brake shoes, and sure enough he had a few sets of relined #18 shoes. He wanted $60 a set without cores. Good price or not? I got a set, but he has a few more. They fit perfect on my 52. Should I stock up, or did I get ripped off?

    They sure arn't making any more of that number 18 - been discontinued for a long time.

    So, whatever price it is, Don, you did good. Stock up, re-sell the ones you don't need. Make him an offer to take all he has for less than the $60/pr. Buying in bulk always makes sense.

    Cost me 17.50 each shoe, about $70 dollars last week to get a set of 4 relined. You did well at that price.

    I just got through with a complete rework of a 51 Packard brake system and the "new" shoes did not fit to suit and between the adjuster and wheel cylinder grinding and spring adjusting,"tall man" servoing and so on I would have paid what it took to get the old ones relined.

    SOOOO, who in the club will do this ? No shops left in eastern NC I can find to reline
