I just saw this over at the AACA forum. I know nothing more than what I reprint below:

Partialy restored original 1931 Murry bodied 1931 Hudson boat tail roadster. This is a stripped and refinished rolling chassis. The body has had all the orginal wood replaced professionaly. All metal work was done by an old time metal man, bad metal was cut out and metal repalced and hammer welded. The fenders are all straightened and fitted. The hood has been straigtened and opens effortlessly.

Most chrome parts have been stripped and tripple plated by a concours level plating company. Headlights, sidelights windshield supports, hood doors and related parts, hood latches, and many small parts are already plated. The dash and steering wheel have been restored and both have been professionaly woodgrained as well as the light switch and horn button.

There are many extra parts, motor, transmission, carburetors, manifolds, front end, read end, wire wheels and hub caps, headlights, sidelights, and many addtional parts included. A full set of factory original parts books, owner manual, and copies of service bullitins are included.

This car needs to be finished, some light metal work, paint, and upholstry, some plating as well. The motor was running a little over a year ago but will need attention. While it is a mostly complete car it will need to be finished. Included is a brand new complete wire harness from Rhode Island Wire Works, 2 new old stock running boards with the "Hudson 8" logo in the center. A new old stock radiator "bird" Also included are the ultra rare factory supplied aluminum high compression cylinder heads restored and refinished ready to install. A new windshield frame is ready for plating. New head gaskets, and manifold gaskets are also included as well as all new old stock ignition parts.

The last 1931 Hudson boat tail roadster to be sold was at Hershey last fall. The Dragone brothers sold an older restoration 1931 Hudson boat tail for $150,00.00. My hudson is far less expensive but needs to be finished, make no mistake.

This is an original car not a reproduction and included is the original Murry body tag. This hudson has been in our family since 1955. According to an AACA article there are 5 of these rare and beautiful boat tails known to exist. Here is your chance to own a full classic as approved by the CCCA, due to very limited production, custom body and no printed advertising of this body style. I do have an original factory photo of a 1931 Hudson boat tail roadster shown on a stage with turn table.

I am selling the Hudson due to lack of storage and it is just not my era of interest. My father purchased this car in 1955 and it has been in the family ever since. email me at brasscarguy@comcast.net and I will forward many pictures of this Hudson.

what do you think this would be worth John?

did the other 31 sell that was advertised a while ago, as I know it didnt reach the 95k reserve and that was an older restoration but was complete and running

  • The man selling this car is Howard Musolf from Seattle, WA area. Many of you may have heard of him and his reputation and for you that haven't heard of him, BEWARE when dealing with him. He has had this car for sale for some time and it was last advertised at $45,000 and obviously hasn't sold. His reputation for shady dealings and outright fraud is known on the west coast so that may be why he shipped the car to New York state to be restored. The restorer there was less than thrilled with his involvement on the project last time I spoke to him. He was kind enough to return '31 parts to me and my friend that Howard "bought" from us and then never paid for.

Might be a great opportunity to own a '31 boat tail Hudson, but be careful in your dealings.
