37 steering column hole

Is this cutout in the column for wires?

    Yes, the lower hole is for wires. That column is from a car originally equipped with the "Electric Hand" vacuum-electric gearshift system. The hole near the driver end is for mounting the gearshift switch assembly.



    Sorry the dash photo doesn't show it real well.

    Ok, that makes sense. Now, this PU has floor shifter, so that means I can weld a patch plate on the two holes being as I don't have an electric hand or column shifter ?

    If you aren't in hurry, I will be removing the tube from my 36 to install tube for electric hand which it now has. I am not sure if length is same or not.
