Oil pan leak

Changed the oil on my '30 Essex last Saturday. Since that time there has been a slow leak from the plug. I don't want to over-tighten it. Is there anything I can try on the plug to stop the leak? I worry about something getting picked-up and into some of the tubes and troughs that might plug them up.

  • Tried a new plug ? Brass sometimes seals better than grey iron .

I sure wouldn't be afraid to use a little teflon paste on the plug threads.

I'd probably try to keep it off the first thread maybe, but still wouldn't worry.

Must not be that uncommon as the pan that was on my 30 engine was

modified to a short pipe nipple gas welded to the drain hole and a female threaded cap. I'm also guessing whoever had the pan and tray off last time

and siliconed it back on also brazed a bunch of pinholes in the bottom of the

pan. Rusted from the inside out from water laying in the bottom of the pan.
