Jet Prototype Drawing

I don't have a picture, or drawing, in my files - but, yes, you are correct and one does exist.
It was a beautiful looking little car the way Spring designed it - but the president of the company, mired in 1930's thinking, decreed the roof had to be raised so a "gentleman could wear his hat when sitting inside!!"
I'd love to see somebody, with the talent, do a chop job on a Jet just to show everybody what could have been.

Hey Alex isn't that sort of like the story of a horse being designed by a committee and winding up as a camel?0 -
Close, but with the fuzzy thinking going on at Hudson in the early 1950's they'd probably wound up with an elephant.

I don't think this is the drawing you all are talking about, however these drawings were included in the July/August 1999 WTN by columnist Richard Polese discussing what the final Jet could have looked like without the three inch high belt line (above the fender line). I does give the car an all-to-gether different look to the car. Copy the URL below and insert in your search engine to see these drawings.

I wonder if that had anything to do with the quintessential definition of a "geezer" becoming a little old man driving a Rambler and wearing a hat, with a turn signal on for miles. . .
I think someone did a full-on photo type rendering of a Jet that was sectioned 3 or 4 inches- I agree, it was a pretty car.0 -

This Jet has been posted on the Los Angeles craigslist off and on for the last several months. The chop is a bit radical for my taste, but it looks like a good effort, none the less.

Something similar happened with the 53 Studebaker coupe and hdtp.Management raised the roof-line from the original design for hat wearers.0
