Standard transmission with Chevy engine

Has anyone ever replaced a Hudson engine with a small block Chevy engine and kept the standard transmission setup? I like the three on the tree. If so, is there an adapter out there to keep the fluid clutch or would a friction clutch be needed?

Thanks,

Jason

Well, it just scared me off. I'll just stick with the old 262 until it drops dead, then I'll worry about putting in a Chevy engine and transmission without the three on the tree.
  • Why not keep it Hudson and rebuild the 262? You'll spend way more money clobbering the car up with a Chebbie engine than you would keeing it the way Hudson inteneded it.

I'm finishing up dropping a 262 in my Pacemaker. Some guys have said it's the best most balanced engine Hudson made. I plan on putting many miles on mine hopefully. Why not rebuild yours, add 12V electronic ignition, disc brakes and maybe electric wipers while you're at it. Want more pep? You could get a 262 Twin H and enlarge the exhaust. .... more? Get a 1954 block 262.. I think you could get a hydramatic too before going full blue bowtie.

Nothing wrong with that old mill
  • How about putting a 232 head on the 262 block??

We have the dual outlet exhaust manifold adapters if anyone interested. Thanks, Bob
  • something else I've noticed with the young people these days is that they prefer 4 doors and don't understand our generation"s preference for 2 door hardtops and 2 door post cars.

Oh that one is easy... they're CHEAPER!!!! LOL ......It is weird though considering every car you see rolling down the street on a given day only has one person in it even if it's a SUV with a capacity of 7 people.... does that make sense?? Does the lack of a 2 door model (new) Charger make sense? The world used to make sense.
