  • I like this one aswell. Don't see these too often. The interior is well done. Too bad they lowered it but that can always be changed back.

Nice car - 2" body drop?

    I call BS!

I see no indication that the body was dropped 2"
  • You're right. Ride height looks stock.

Talk about picking at the "fly specks," this sweet little car comes with the 8 cyl engine. That is what the discussion should be about. I call this a great car and currently at a great price. Now, where do I bid???
  • It looks like it could have been dropped some, car is as it would appear if it were riding on radials but it has bias ply tires that would normally make it ride higher.

    IMO

I'm a little surprised at the "bare steel floor pans." I was under the impression that at least the Hornets and Commodores were all undercoated at the factory. Every one I've ever seen certainly was, including the three very original '51 Commodore/Hornet cars I've had. Walt, how about this? Was undercoating really just an option?

Undercoating was part of the car. This car has been steamed clean, sure wished we could of seen it before it was steamed. Looking at the rear springs, it looks like it's lowered, notice the new U bolts. Notice the front fenders are now over the top of the tires, where normally there is one inch clearance. With a full undercoating it will make a nice ride for someone. Walt.

I think youre right on the suspension changes - looks like they blocked the rear end - I wonder what they did to the springs in the front?

A body drop to me would be similar to MIKE-WA's where they "channeled" the body over the "frame" and cut 2" off the bottom of the doors, fenders and quarters.

Thats why I questioned the claim - there is no evidence of that type of drop looking at the underneath of the car.

At the bottom of the add, in the question and answer section, his answer was that the car was lowered 2" not chopped.

Well guys, the '51 Commodore Six that was my Grandpa's always hung real low in the front, so maybe they didn't have to do anything to the front - just brought the rear end down a bit to match the front end!
  • Did anyone happen to see the final bid on this Commodore? Bidding ended at 12 noon PDT and I forgot to check it at that time. It was $20,000 at 10 AM.

    Just curious, Thanks. JH

    Final bid was 20k.
  • I think buyer did well.
  • Here it is back on ebay for sale by same seller. It sold the last time it was on. Wonder why its back. Sold for 20K before which was a good deal.

The seller e-mailed me back and said the buyer couldn't meet the financial obligations.... who knows what the real story is.
