trunk material

Ron, The material was made of black rubber. It was a verticle ribbed pattern and had a general outline of the shape of the trunk bordering itself and setback off the main design by about 4 or 5 inches A rectangle was cut out for the spare tire. No one currently makes this A parts car may have a decent one still left in it -somewhere.0

I'll disagree. starting in 52 the mats were no longer rubber (at least for the Hornets and Commodores. They were more of a canvas type material in 52-3 and a true linoleum (not the vinyl availabile and known as linoleum today) in 54 I've seen at least two different patterns for the 52 53 one being a cream with grean diamonds and the other being more of a large houndstooth.0

Well Nick I guess your experiences are a bit different from mine.0

My 52 Hornet Coupe has the original mat in excellent shape- saw the same one in Bruce Silva's52 Hornet Coupe aswell- both were similar to what Nick described- I'll post a pic in a day or so. I know my 48 Commodore has the black ribbed rubber mat.0

Thanks guys, I restored the trunk 20 years ago, with what I thought was not period correct but close, and fit panels to finish the fender well areas. looks great but I thinking of entering in a AACA Grand National next year. A friend here in Tucson does interiors and he stated that he can 't find rubber 60" wide. As it turns out the material in the car now is pretty near what was original, albeit over restored with the panels and finished wheel wells, which will cost points, but save money.0
