Belongs to a buddy that wants me to sell it for him . Gonna put it on Ebay after some research . It is authenticated as a genuine accessory item for a 1940 Chevy . The small circle turns like a wheel spinner if you grab the bar in it , bar is supposed to be covered matching the rim . I never saw one even tho I've seen hundreds of 40 Chevys in my younger days . ---BUD

Bud, could you please post the URL here at the forum when that does get on Ebay, or at least mention that it's on? I have an old friend with a 1940 or 41 Chevy, who would love one!

He was the first adult I ever encountered who had the old car sickness we all share, and at that time (1965) he had the money to indulge his car passion -- something I did not, at age 18! So, I'd like to help him out.

What a neat accessory! The only one I saw was in a magazine. I think it was Cars & Parts a while (year or so) back. They had a story on a guy who had a mint 40 or 41 Chevy with virtually every accessory GM offered- including a mint version of this wheel.

Here's the situation guys . The young man that owns this is a real good guy , the kind that will and does help people who need it , maybe that's why he don't have any money . Got 3 young kids to look after that come first . Trying to fix up an old Chevy pickup , nothing extravagant , just a daily driver . Needs all the cash he can round up without hitting the pay check , that belongs to the kids . This wheel is gonna be expensive to own , but worth it if you got lotsa $$$. Needs total rebuild . I've sold several old hard to find wheels , they go HIGH . If I put it on Ebay for him I'll start it at $500 , it's not gonna end up on some clunker , gonna go to somebody that can afford a first class car {NOT ME OR I'D HAVE IT , I HAD FIRST CHANCE} Got lotsa friends here I respect also , therefor if anyone wants to make an offer good enough we'll sell it among our friends and not worry about what bidding might take it to . Y'ALL know how to contact me privately or call me. 812-883-6365---BUD

A friend had a 1941 Chevrolet Special Delux two door that had this style of steering wheel on it. Beautiful car all original, his daily driver in high school... never Hot Rodded it! He paid $200.00 for the whole car in 1972.

  • GOOD OLE DAYS , I paid $195 for my 37 'T' fully equiped with all options and 32,00 on it in 1952 . But then wages were 78 cents an hour or $50 a month and all you could eat workin for farmers dawn to dusk !! Gotta admit I put the 'T' to the test , it made them all easy , one tough car . BUD

Like, as in (all excited) "Honey!!! I finally found that spinner accessory steering wheel for my '41 Chevy!!!!" Only thing is it came attached to a $4000 chevy parts car!! And it does need just a little bit of restoration.

  • I saw one of these on a lowrider '40 Chev. at a car show in Chino CA a few months ago . It was a new old stock or restored wheel . It was perfect. Norm

As an old chevy guy I hate to break the news to everyone but these are in reproduction. There was a time when they brought some good cash but today it costs more to restore them than to by the reproductions....

  • Restorations for these type of steering wheels START at $1000. Found that out at Hershey last year. Must pay for originality.

HEY--they haven't got a Hudson mold in their mold list---BUT---they have a 47 Nash wheel for only $400---not too much different to cast it than a solid color Hudson , we ought to see what they would do . ---BUD
