you should have seen this place jerry. i would bet he had a million bucks worth of cars. he is a edsel collecter has the largest drop top edsel collection in the world. he also seems to be interested in production numbers because he keep showing us number one in production cars. he had cyclones and talidagas. he had the only factory built 1967 rebal nascar. 1 of 1 estimated 300.000. you could go on and on about what we saw. i will never foget this day.0

Have new owner contact me and I will make sure it is listed in HET stepdown convertible registry.0 -
Looks like this baby is a good solid project, even the rams are there for the hood

Thanks for posting the pics. Looks like a solid car.
The hole for the clutch pedal is standard. Cover plate was used for automatic cars.
Appears you also have an extra rear header for the convertible top. Some 'vert owner might be looking for one, if you care to part with one of them.
I assume you got all the sheetmetal (hood, fenders, etc.) and other hard parts that you will need with the car?
Great find!0 -
NICE CONVERT...... It is fun to see the start of a good project. This one should be a beauty in a few years...0

Differences between the dashes on '51 to '53 are that the instrument bezel itself is different. '51 had extra small holes in it, '53 does not. Additionally, for panels under dash: '51's had push-button starts, '53's had key ignitions. Also, '53's came with painted dashes and '51's had burl wood-grained dashes and trim pieces.
Dana rear-end is big plus, I'd say go with it.
Chrome strips for tops of doors: inside or out? Either way, good luck with that one, they are hard to find. Benefit is that HLWYD's used the same pieces. I might have a couple of leads for you there and I might even have a couple extra inside pieces if I didn't all ready sell them.
Seat pan is no big deal, just make sure you get one with a split back on it (not sedan). Used in all 2-drs. There's some chrome acoutrements that were on the H & Com. for the robe handles. Might need those as well, if you don't have them. I have pics if you need them.0 -

Hey, hey HEY! (Don't talk about me like that).:D0 -
This brings the total number of step-down convertibles in registry to 275. That number is not positive, because about half of ones listed do not show VIN, but we keep trying. If anyone has any HET car in registry, MAKE SURE you include VIN.:)0
