Hi you all!

Before I present myself, I just want to say that I am impressed by that site, especialy by that Hudson forum. Lot of activity in here and lot of good car guys to learn from. I am reading some of the topics since a couple of days and I admire you all by the quality of your answers.

My name is Michel Jodoinand I am from Compton, Quebec in Canada. Just about 30 minutes north of the Vermont border. Since my first langage is french, I hope I will not do too much faults in my writyng.

My first encounter with a Hudson was when I was 9 ( in 62) and my dad bought a 1951 Hudson Hornet convertible ( the exact color of the one that was found on the july 19th in the forum). That car was fabulous and my dad was very proud of it. ( By the way he paid $125.00 for it in those days and it was in near like new condition). I will try to put a picture of it. In 64 my brother who was in the army broke an axle during a trip to N. Brunswick. He sold the car for $75.00 and continue hitch-iking.. In 1974 I went all the road he did to try to locate the car. Later I found in an old journal that the car had been on sale in 1976. And in 1999, I found it, totaly restored, and, not for sale. But I have an eye on it. At least, I can see it again. Last april, I was finaly lucky enough to find a 1954 Super Wasp with the Twin-H setup. The car was in California from 54 to 80. Then, somebody bought it and moved it in Montreal. Tha car and the guy were unknow to the car guys around town. The guy died somewhere between 1980 and 2007. In 2007 the widow asked a mover to comme and make a price to move all her furniture and he saw the car and bought it. He took the car east to his summer place about 600 miles from Montreal. Took the doors off, etc. Tried to sell the car there ans nobody wanted it. Took the car back in Montreal and I bought it, right from the box of the truck. There is a lot of work to do but, this car is a gem for me. The underneath of the car reveals his treasures. No rust at all. No need to do any floors. There is one spot of rust on the back. Probably something hurt the car and there but an easy fix. Motor and trans are painted and, as from what I can see, not from the inside, I suspect that motor was rebuilt, painted and put back in place and the guy died after. Not sure but... I tought the motor was stuck but finaly found that it was the water pump that was jammed. Just had the radiator recored. Should place it back by the week-end. The problem is, the car is 160 km from my house. So I go every two weeks.

Oups, I think I wrote too much for the first time...Sorry, I will try to get all the details on my profile. Will go in Carlisle this autumn ( I heard that Hudson guys meet there at the end of the Hershey show, any hint?)

Thank you to those who could read it all. Hudsonly Michel.

  • Great story Michel. Keep us posted on your progress.
  • Welcome to the world of Hudson...ing! There are many who have similar stories to tell about cars that disappear and like magic someone comes across them decades later. A 54 Super Wasp with Twin H is a special car to me... I have a particular affection for the one year short hood Wasp body style.

What body style do you have? Sedan, Brougham, Coupe, Hollywood Hardtop or the queen of all the convertible?

Again welcome... you will find encouragement, assistance and information intertwined with the stories of others journeys as they bring a HET product back to life.

Post your pictures we will all enjoy seeing your car.

Welcome to the Hudson forum! As you noticed already, there are alot of knowledgable and helpful guys on here.

Cool story. Can't wait to see pics of your car. A lot of these cars seem to disappear over the years only to become rediscovered, always with an interesting story.
  • Welcome to the club and the forum. :)

    Welcome, Michel!

Did you know that the Hudson club has its newest chapter in Quebec? It is the Quebec-Nouvelle-France chapter, and you can see the e-mail address on this page: http://hetclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=69&Itemid=86

    Welcome Michel!!

I have found this to be a great place for learning about these great cars! I got back into Hudsons after having owned and driven several back in the 70's and early 80's. We need a forum like this to learn and share knowledge as the older owners are getting even older and their knowledge is gradually being lost.

Keep us posted on your progress-

Yes, Michel, welcome aboard. This is a great group of people - I should know I've been kicking around the club for 41 years. I've not found a better bunch to play with.

I agree - great story about your Dad's Hudson. Maybe someday you'll welcome it back into your life - I really hope so.

Enjoy your new Hudson and don't be afraid to post whatever problems you may have - there will be somebody to help you. Hudson people are like that.

Don't know if I have the authority to welcome someone here? But, "WELCOME"! I think you'll find this site friendly and very informative. Even when people disagree the topic gets discussed and the right answer seems to be found. I know I've personally learned alot here. I hope you do as well, and teach us something too.:)

How about some pictures of your project?

Wow! What a warm Welcome from you guys. No wonder that forum is so great. I am still learning how to travel on this site. I was wondering if I had to answer you all personaly but I think it's better to thank you all right here. For the pictures, I posted some in one section on my "user CP" ( all new technical words for me). I will, in the future weeks, begin to document my restoration. I just bought all the books I needed. The motor turns. Next two months will be to review all the mechanical. When all will be ok, the car should go to the body for the winter. Next spring, the car should arrive in my garage for the interior to be put back and all the moldings, etc. I will have a lot of questions but I think the best way will be to post a new topic each time.

Just got my membership in the new Canadian chapter of the HET Club in Québec. Great people there too. Our president, Gary Lynch will be in Spokane to represent us. My goal is to be present in Carlisle at the end of the Hershey week. I was told there is a Hudson meeting in a hotel somewhere on sunday. Will check later to get details. Have a good day guys.

    Hudsonly, Michel
