47 Hudson pickup, need headliner bows

I'm trying to finish up the last vehicle my dad was restoring before he passed on last October. He posted on here a lot (BillyK_TN). It's a 1947 Hudson pickup. We've looked high and low and cannot find the bows for the headliner. Does anyone have any for sale, or know the dimensions so I might possibly get some made. And how does the headliner hook to the back of the cab? ANY information would be appreciated greatly!

  • There should be a paper like tack strip at the back-top of the cab to attach the liner to.

I can get the measurments for the bows tomorrow and post tomorrow night if it will help.I have some but need them for mine.Allso I think(not sure) the ones from a sedan? are the same.

    FYI

If you dont find the 2 Bows they would be easy to fabricate by going to Lowes (or elsewhere) to buy two lengths of soft 1/4" Rod. Use the roof as a pattern and bend down the ends 1 1/4" away at the seam above the door. Normally the Ends flatten (i think) to screw upward from the door frame but you could Fab & drill horizontically to fasten.

Keep the contour over to the other side aprx 3/4" down from the roof. Additionally, I bought two Truck Headliners with matching windlace from JC Whitney and found they were simple to install with no prior experience.

I have bows from stepdown that I can check in our pickup after it cools down on Monday. If they can be altered to work, you can have them. If Pigeon Forge meet is too late, I can see about shipping them.:)
  • The front bow is 59 in.total length

The rear bow is 63 in.total length

Both have both ends flat with a 1/4 in. hole in each end(if I were making them,I would drill and tap for a 10x32 screw so I wouldnt have to try and hold a nut.)

Phil, have parts-sedans and a parts-pickup. Will look for bows for you today. Perhaps we can save you having to fabricate.

  • Thanks very much to all of you who have replied: Chipmaker, for the info on the strip (found it, didn't realize that was what it was for) and the lengths, Ol Racer for where to find stuff to make them and sizes, Dave & Hal for checking to see if you have any. I'd sure like to find some already made as you might tell I don't know very much at all about them. Thanks again folks.

I'm in knoxville and can send pics of anything else that might be helpful from my truck. Bows are in but no liner yet...
