37 PU questions
Remember, this PU came to me in boxes!
Ok everyone, I need some info - help on the 37 PU. I have started some of the body work and have a question on the rear fenders that bolt to the bed. These are in pretty rough shape and looked to have been worked on several times over the life of the PU. Here are photo's, just click on the link then click on the photo to enlarge it.

1- did hudson use fender welt on these? If so, where do you buy the correct welt to use?
2- in the parts book on page 65- is listed a rear fender finish plate (122161) and (122617) --what is this?
3- also listed is a finish plate ornament (122615) --- what is that?
4- On the PU, what is the finish of the dash and also the door window surround moldings? I know some were woodgrain on the cars but what about the PU's ?
5- part # BZ 116142 is listed as a rear fender stone guard --- what is this?
Many more question to come

Until someone more knowledgeable comes here with the right answers, I'll hazard an educated guess on a couple of these:
2 & 3. The finish plate is the fender skirt. The appropriate ornament 122615 would be the same oval, winged chromed ornament that goes on the trunks of all passenger cars and says TERRAPLANE HUDSON. This was an accessory and probably few truck owners ordered them.
4. The dashboards of all "commercial cars" would have been painted (the color of the car, I believe). They would not have had the chrome strip running across the top, that most of the passenger cars had. Models 70, 71 and 78 did not have this.
5. I believe that was the rubber mudflap behind the rear wheels (and there were flaps behind the front wheels as well). Consists of the flap and a bracket made of thin steel rod. There was also a heavy steel brace from the body to the outer part of the fender, which held the flap at the bottom, I think (my car isn't nearby, so I can check).0 -

From my car and recollections of the one I had way back when JON is correct , I can give you exact measurements of the mud flap holding parts0 -
The 2 rows of holes on one fender , My quesse is due to all the beating/stretching of old work they put them there to get it to match the body . There are several parts cars owned by guys on the forum that might have some fenders0

Hello Kdancy,
Here is a website I stumbled across some time ago, concerning the restoration of a 1937 Terraplane Pickup. Lots of photos - might be of some use to you.

I am looking for a hood ornament for a 1937 Hudson Terraplane. Prefer the cigar style.
Thank you.0 -
The plastic "carrot" only, is available from K-Gap. You might want to post your question on the Forum by itself, more people will see it.0

Yes, that is Victor Yordy that owns that shop and I have had him make door scuff plates for a 55 Studebaker I was working on. He does good work. The fenders in the picture is not at the angles I needed to see exactly how the fenders were built or bolt on.
I would sure be open to purchasing a set of rears ones if I could find them before I start on these. It looks to me like they took a coupe or sedan fender and cut it down, then welded a strip in for fitment to the bed.0 -
Thank you.0
