rebore on a 36 terraplane block

Re the cylinder bore on the 36 T,if its already been taken out to .025 over,then it might have to go to .040,would that make the walls too thin,causing overheating problems etc?How far can you go on these 212 motors?

  • Splasher sixes shouldn't be overbored more than .030, otherwise they run hot.
  • So, can they be sleeved if more than .30 over would be necessary?

    They can be resleeved but you may have trouble when you torque the head. A good machine shop should be able to clean it up at 0.030 with a honing machine. 30 is the safe size. Walt.

  • Not to argue with the experts , I would never go more than I had to , but My 37 is .040 over and no heat problems at all . Gets pretty thin sealing the head gasket between cylinders but it is holding . BUD

    Interesting,what causes trouble when you torque a resleeved head?
