Wanted: '48-'49!!

I've got a friend who is looking for a '48-'49 2DR (Coupe or Sedan) Commodore, preferred. He's not looking for a project, but a finished, or nearly finished newer or older restoration or really fine original.

He's gotten bit by the Hudson bug and is even selling his Nash, to help with the acquisition of his next Hudson:

probably stating the obvious, thekid1950 has a 1950 C6 coupe for sale posted a couple of pages back.

craigslist has a 49 Sedan in NC that needs a gas tank for under 10K.

You just gotta be patient Russell sometimes it will be like a dryspell where you won't see certain years/models of cars come up for sale for a long time. Then you will think to yourself, "either they're getting more rare or those who have them are not willing to part with them." Then you'll suddenly get a WTN with 5 of them for sale.

Also there's sort of a Murphy's Law thing. When you actively look for something you won't find it. When you stop looking it'll be sitting right there.

I know what you mean. That sort of thing happens to me often. In scouting parts for the convertible, I would often spend an active year or two or even three looking for some obscure part and eventually kind of let it slip onto the back burner. Then out of the blue, someone would call me and say, "Hey, are you still looking for this whirli-gig? I've got three of them sitting around.", or some such comment.

We're still keeping an eye out and have several others scouting for us, as well. Something will come up, I'm sure.

These cars would be coming out of the woodwork for sale if you weren't currently looking for one.

We actually looked into this one, but The Kid decided he didn't want to sell it after all. As far as I know, he still has it.

Before he passed Bill Albright sold Mike Cherry a beautiful 49 brougham, it was out of my budget but it was a good older restoration, maybe Mike is interested in selling it, you should contact him

You can check out Mike's car on the current cover of the WTN. It is right below the Red Lion Sign. There is also some comments and photo's inside the WTN you will want to read about Mike and his car. His 49 is one of the best stepdown's that I have driven. A great car that I expect is not for sale--However, give Mike a call, I am sure he would love to hear from anyone......

Yep, I kick myself for not buying that car of Mikes when I had the chance, it was what I was looking for, it was just at the wrong time for me.

Mike was willing to sell his car . . . for an exorbitant fee. It is a very pretty and nice brougham, however.

I have what I consider a one of the nicest fully documented original 48 Commodore Sedans in the country. Might let it go for the right offer. Bought it 8 years ago from the estate of the original owner. Perfect virgin body and original two-tone maroon / ruby paint. The original interior is near flawless aswell. 3 spd w O/D. Has the drivemaster aswell. Runs and drives wonderfully (does drip from front and rear seals). Bill Albright told me this was one of the best he'd seen. PM me if interested. Niels

I'm bumping this back to the top, in case some haven't seen it. We're still looking for a '48-'49 Coupe or Brougham, preferably a C6, but a Super6 would work, as well.

We've been through 16 or 18 leads, but nothing has panned out, as of yet. Any future leads are most welcome.
