When I was reading a post on this forum yesterday, the size of the post got larger than the monitor screen. It's a pain to move the post back and forth to read it.

Did this happen to anyone else? And is there a way to reduce the size of the posts to fit the montor screen?

Thanks for any help. Lee

Not sure why that happened, but one reason is, that ONE of the posts on the page contains an oversized photograph that forces the width of page to the right. In that case, you have to use the slider at the bottom, in order to see not only the entire photograph, but also to see the extent of the text. And this will then be for ALL posts that are made on that page.

The way around this, is for people to upload photos of a reasonable size. (What "reasonable" is, is beyond me. I usually use my photo program to change photos to about 150 dpi and to 4" x 6" photo size. (Any larger, and the photo file becomes so large that it exceeds the 97.7 kb limit anyway, and can't be posted!)

Try holding the "Ctrl" button down on the bottom left of your keyboard, and turning the wheel on your mouse.

Thanks a lot Geoff. That did it. It took many turns of the wheel before the screen change a little each time. After each change it took many more turns before the screen responded. Is this normal or is it a problem with the wheel? I have never used to wheel before.

I have another question? When I see something on a post that I want to print out a copy of, the copy type is not alway the same size. Most of the time it is very very small print. Once in awhile the copy comes out with larger type.

Is there something I can do to change the type size to come out larger all the time?

Thanks again. You made my day. Lee

I'm sorry, I'lll have to leave that to someone a bit more up to speed with the finer points like that. I have never tried to print or copy anything from the forum.
  • Near the top of each thread is a black bar with several pull down menus designated with a downward pointing diamond. Click "thread tools" which will bring up another box that includes "printable version of this thread" click that and you will be presented with a version that can be printed. If you want to manipulate that version... use CONTROL A on your keyboard which will capture all of the text and then Control C to copy. Paste the text into your word processor and manipulate as you please... you will be able to save print etal.

    Goodday Geoff and Lee.

    Goodday Geoff and Lee.

    Thanks Ken.

The first part worked beautifully. The second part about manupulateing that version leave me stumbling. I don't see a CONTROL A or CONTROL C button on the key board unless it is the letters A and B. Is that what you are refering to? If it is the letters A & B, how do I use those to capture and print. Also, I do not know what the word processor is or where to find it or how to go about using it for pasting the text.

If I can get that far I may be contacting you on how to manipulate. We'll see.

For the present, I am very happy being able to print out a copy that is easier to read without a magnifying glass to assist my reading glasses.

Dumb question. What is print etal?

Thanks for your help and patience. Lee

To make the type larger, hold down the Ctrl key and hit the + key; to make it smaller hold down the Ctrl key and hit the - key.

You don't have to hi-lite anything - just be on the forum page.
