This is the first of several questions I have regarding my 1947 Hudson Cab Pickup.



In this photo of the engine, what it the part in the middle that looks like an electrical plug with two prongs?

    Something that Hudson didn't install, possibly a coolant heater for cold climates?

    known as a 'head-bolt' heater, quite commonly used up here in the colder climate's. Help's pre-heat the upper portion of the engine, mainly the combustion chamber's to aid in cold weather start-up, was a common add-on back in that era.. Not as effective as a block heater that pre-heats the engine coolant, but better than nothing at all ! ! Stop & think about what it would be like back in the day to try start something with 6 volts, thick oil, and prehistoric ignition system ! !
