known as a 'head-bolt' heater, quite commonly used up here in the colder climate's. Help's pre-heat the upper portion of the engine, mainly the combustion chamber's to aid in cold weather start-up, was a common add-on back in that era.. Not as effective as a block heater that pre-heats the engine coolant, but better than nothing at all ! ! Stop & think about what it would be like back in the day to try start something with 6 volts, thick oil, and prehistoric ignition system ! !
