1932 Model Number ?

Actually, there were two Essex models in 1932 - the Essex and Essex-Terraplane.
The Essex came as a Model E Pacemaker (intro'd in Jan 1932) and the Model EC Standard (intro'd in April 1932).
The Essex-Terrplane models for 1932 were Model K Pacemaker and K Special, both intro'd July 23, 1932, replacing the Essex.
Serial numbers were as follows;
E Pacemaker - 1281685 to 1300384;
EC Standard - 1297748 to 1300384.
K Pacemaker and K Special had the same numbers - 350000 to 364125.
The differences in each were mainly in the trim packages as they shared the same wheel bases (1932 Essex on a 113 inch wb and the 1932 Essex-Terraplane on a 106 inch wb) and motors (2-15/16 x 4-3/4 for 193 cid).
The K Special models had lacquered fenders to match body, fender lights, glove box lock, white control knobs on instruments, inside visors and finer interior trim.

there were no records kept by body style so how many coupes, sedans, coaches etc. were built is unknown.0

Thank you for the information. I have the 5 window coupe as seen in my avatar. It came to me with no firewall where the identification plate would be. I have seen one other 33 coupe with the plate and there was a place for a model number and serial number as I recall. So my serial number should be in the 350000 range but I would like to find out what the model number would be. Not sure when or if i will ever see the 33 coupe to check out those numbers again. I have seen reproduction serial plates for sale that need stamping. I acuired a firewall but there was no plate on it either.0

The model number section of the I.D. plate was not stamped by the factory.
If you see one with number or letter there it was done by a previous owner
I believe this was true through 1936.

Thanks Ric
I assumed if there was a place for a model/body number stamping one would be there.

in the '40's the serial number was stamped on the frame....not sure if that was true earlier...of course if it were you'd have to at least lift the body off the frame to see it.0

The 31 model had a number stamped by the rear spring hangers can never remmember which side
Essex28-1 should see you to the exact place or Geoff
I would be pretty sure there will be 1

take a look at the frame right behind the RF wheel & also on the RF edge of the front axle0

Let's get the question straight - are you looking for a model number (didn't have model numbers in 32, only letters), or serial number - a model number and a serial number would be different.
