Pricing Cars
I sometimes wonder where people get the prices they put on their cars on ebay. Really I think some folks just do not spend the time to research what a good price for a Hudson is. There are cars on ebay that have been on so many times that you wonder how many times a person has to post a car for sale before they figure out their pricing is totally wrong.
Case in point this car with no engine or tranny and in pieces. I wonder if he will get the price he is asking.

Just a general head scratching query as I cannot fathom how people post on ebay. Here are a couple of givens I would think.
1. Clean the vehicle
2. Take pics where we can actually see the car
3. Keep the crap to a minimum
4. Research a little on pricing
5. Rusted Car up to its doors in mud is not worth 5K
6. Keep the crap to a minimum (can't say this enough)
7. If it does not sell at 20K do not repost at 84K
8. After reposting 5+ times your pricing is WRONG
9. Never use the words "its an easy fix" in your ad
10. Always show pics of underneath of car
And many more simple tips. If nothing else ebay is a constant fountain of pure comedy.

What is the definition of easily restored? I'd say four new tires, a damaged panel, new floor mats? Not something that needs floor pans, a motor and trans. It just sounds good. Also, if it's so easy why doesn't the seller just do it? Ha! Jim0

I also wish people would do a little bit of research on their cars instead of seemingly making things up.
Take a look at this listing:

1. What is "Brougham trim"?
2. What is rare about a '50 Super sedan having the two piece rear window?
It reminds me of the Lincoln quote "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."0 -
51HornetA Just looked at your case-study example. Man they must have some good recreational drugs out now. LOL Yes your list of tips should be common sense to anyone selling a car....esp when asking 5 figures.0

Using the spell checker would be a good idea, especially if you're going to use your newly created word "collectable" multiple times!
I'd say the word "suicidal" would be the most apt description of this pile of junk!0 -
Another line I often read and wonder about -
"In great shape --- for it's age"
Now what is that supposed to mean?
I have never found the "easy restoration" car. Some are worse than others, but Easy?0 -
Or, runs great, could use a tune-up.0

I've bought and sold many Hudson items (and Hudson cars) and I agree with the first post! The first thing that sticks out to me is out of line pricing. Use good photos or don't waste your time. Use honest, knowlegeable and matter of fact descriptions. If I ever see the word "rat rod" used anywhere in the ad then I know it is a piece of ....0
