50 Hood release

Not original I know but I got a cable, and handle, from Auto Zone. Cable feeds through the original cable housing.

Same thing happened to mine, put JB weld into handle, reattached on cable, and now works fine.0

Per Bill Albrights sage advice, I put an external release on my 49 Super, in addition to the internal factory cable. I just used a spare piece of 3/16 brake line, using the flare on one end to capture it in a hole drilled into the release lever. It then extends toward the driver's side headlight, and is held up at the this end by an eyebolt. A piece of vacuum hose around it to eliminate vibrations, and it works great. It cost virtually nothing, and I find I use it more than the internal release.
