Guys,

Wondering if someone can help me identify the following 308 engine serial number F12384? Primarily I would like to know the year of manufacture and any other info anyone may be able to provide about to this engine. I haven't been able to locate an engine serial number starting with an 'F' in any of the on-line documentation that I have located.

Thanks,

tom

I believe it is a replacement engine, but the experts will be here soon!I'm sure someone will give you an accurate answer. Where is the number stamped? On the right front side of the block on front of the manifold or on the drivers side front horizontaly?
  • Thanks for your reply SuperDave,

There is no number on the RH side of the block in the normal place where the serial number would be located. The number is on a horozontal machined surface on the LH side at the top of the block.

    Thanks for your help. Tom
  • Your engine's out of a 55 or 56 Hornet.

Or, as stated above, was a replacement engine.
  • Replacement engine's a possibility but they usually didn't have a serial no. stamped on them. Here in Cal if you did go thru the process to change the eng. no. with DMV, the would issue you a new no and you went to the CHP office and they stamped in on the engine. Their nos. always ended with CAL.
  • Thanks for help with this question. Appreciate all the replys, it is very helpful. Tom
