  • Hello Fellow Hudnuts,

I spoke to the owner of this 1950 Commodore. The car has been in his family since new and he was actually brought home from the hospital as a baby in this car. Has been handed down from father to son twice. He states that he has a total of ten cars and realizes that he doesn't have time for the Commodore. Seems to be a very honest and straight up guy. He said that he restored the car originally back in 1975. Engine is a single barrel 262 with about 5000 miles on it since a rebuild. Repair work has been done to the perimeter frame by someone who knew what they were doing. He indicates that there is a some rust hole in the firewall on the drivers side. Small dent in fender from backing into the car with a pick up. Needs brake work. With that kind of heritage the car is definitely worth a look see. I am going armed with cash in hand and if all goes well there will be another Hudson in my garage. I will let you all know how things go and will give a report on the cars condition if I decide not to purchase it.

Good luck Glenn, we are all waiting to hear the outcome......
  • Hello Hudnuts,

I went to Sunderland today to look at the 1950 Commodore 6. Overall the car is very solid. Outer perimeter framework is very good. The gentleman and his wife were very accomodating. Interior of the car is very presentable. The guy told me that the motor and transmission were rebuilt back in 1975. Motor does turn over but doesn't fire. The car was only driven in the summer months and he put on about 5000 miles. It went into a garage in 1991. Said he threw some transmission fluid down the carb before mothballing it. Dent in the fender appears to not be too bad. Should work right out. Bottoms of the doors are very good. We came to a very good agreed price so I couldn't pass it up. Only problem is that he couldn't find the title otherwise it would have been to its new home by now. He is going to be reapplying for it. Anyway, hopefully I will have another Hudson in the garage by next Saturday. When it gets here I will post some inauguration pictures.
