As many of you know I have plating done for Hudson folks for the business and tax discounts that I get by being a regular customer and take no money for it. Also, as I have told those who I have done work for my promise to them is that if they are not happy with the work, we will redo/fix it until they are. If that cannot happen I give them their money back. Been doing this for more than ten years now and I am still even. It is intresting to me that there is two sides to each story and I will leave it at that. I love retirement.....
Hello,
So, is there a second side to the story, or did Ogden Chrome agree with what 401wildcat reported?
It seems to me like a veiled suggestion has been made that 401wildcat's claims about his problems with Ogden Chrome are not valid. Am I reading this wrong?
Take care,

My best man worked for a plater and polisher in Auckland for about 10 years
and he was telling me back in the 70s - 80s they would quadruple the process
they would copper as much as it needed, satin Nickle , then bight nickle and then put on the final chrome he recons the depth value was amazing, the nickles may have been reversed cant quite remember which way it was

Sorry People, I posted the wrong name for my plater the other day. It's not Pomona Polishing & Plating, but Pacific Polishing & Plating, Sorry for the wrong info. I guess I'm suffering from C.R.S.! LOL0

OK, a couple of points:
1. I will call him Joe because it is easer to type. Joe spoke with a rep from Ogden Chrome at a show. He was told (sight-unseen)that a part like his normally costs about $1000.00. When Joe sent his part in, due to the condition and such Ogden contacted him and said that it would be more because of the work. They agreed on a price. No work was started until all decisions had been made and Joe gave his permission to press on.
2. The part (Buick grill) was in good condition and Ogden Chrome suggested that he not mess with it. Because it was pot-metal Ogden Chrome was concerned that the stripping process could damage the part or uncover issues that would make the part next to impossible to repair. Joe wanted a "perfect" part and wanted them to "give it a shot" (Joe's words). When it was stripped Ogden Chrome contacted Joe and explained the problems with the part and suggested that he not proceed because it was doubtful that they could make the part perfect because of the issues uncovered in the stripping of the part. (by the way, Ogden Chrome suggested that if he could find a better core they would bring it to this stage of the process at no cost) Joe told them to continue on.
3. Ogden Chrome contacted Joe through every stage of the process. There was no parts sitting in a pile in the corner at any time. Ogden Chrome's shop is very organized and clean.
4. Ogden Chrome finished the part, double wrapped (bubble wrap) the part and sent it to Joe. Joe was not happy. He filed a complaint with the BBB (One complaint with the BBB gets you an F rating until the upset person is satisfied.) But, all of us in business knows that...
5. Joe (a buick part remind you) posted a rant on the Hudson web site.) Oh, he also posted one on the Vintage Chevrolet club of America site and a bunch of other sites.
6. Repeated calls to Joe from all levels of Ogden Chrome plating management only seems to make Joe more vile. Most of his conversations could not be posted in anything other than a "R" rated book.
So, Joe, the reason that no one will talk to you any more is because they have done everything they can think of to do to make you happy and they do not seem to be able to find a way to do that. You now fall into less than one percent of their business base that causes them to go back to work trying their best to do the best job that they can do for the many customers that appreciate their hard work and high quality.
Joe, Steve and Chris wish you the best and feel bad that anything that they might have done upset you. Happy motoring and say Hi to me at the next Hudson meet that you attend. I do not drink beer; but, I would be honored to share a soft drink of your choice with you on my tab.

OMG, that is the biggest crock of bs I have ever heard. Every bit of it. But it doesn't surprise me that the frauds at Ogden would spew a line like that. Of course they would. They certainly wouldn't tell you they screwed me. Look at the pictures and judge for yourself.0

People have a right to state their positions clearly, but please let's keep things civil here or I'll have to pull the thread, move it elsewhere or delete certain posts. Thank you.0
